Poor mother squirrel has really been taking a beating feeding her babies, which are up in the adjacent tree crying out for more milk. Hand-held, ISO 2000, F-5.6, 400mm focal length, 1/125 SS, from RAW.

Another cutie, Michael, and another good sharp shot of this mom caught at a good moment. She seems indifferent to your presence, which is always good to see in shots like this, but she knows where the food is. I know it's good to have all those autumn colours in there, but the bright lights in that area seem a bit strong. Since this is such a good pose caught, I'm wondering if a zoom in/tighter crop might do this shot better justice? John.

Thanks, John. You're the third person that suggested a closer crop. I cropped it this way because I was aware of the crying babies up in the tree and wanted to convey that sense by adding some height to the tree. Also, a closer crop would make her badly bruised tits a bit too prominent me thinks!

I'll go with the latter reason, Michael. The first one holds no water. Besides the squirrel, only YOU know the babies are up that tree ;-)

Great picture! I love how the squirrel is in such clear focus, and the colors of the leaves behind him add to the sense of fall, which is my fave season by the way! The angle is a little bit weird, but it still kinda works!

Hi Micheal, that is a wonderful shot. Lovely composition and colors. A little crop on the top might be ok but it looks great anyways. Thanks.

hi great photo! i like the colors and light...contrast is great! i think that you have a little bit too much space on top of the photo, but all in all it's great!

Thanks, Ante. I wanted to have enough space on top to give a sense that she is looking up into the tree where her babies are.

I believe she was definitely looking up into the tree, her babies were crying.
