I like the IR effect, but apart from that photo is not very interesting. There are a lot of blurred parts due to long shutter speed, and photo looks very crowder with mostly cut-off trees. For a landscape I would prefer a less close-up photo.

Thanks Bostjan for your thoughts! I tried a close up for my first IR shot, because I wanted to have good details of the leaves of the tree in the fg, but you are right, there are blurred parts, because unfortunately it was a bit windy - Cheers, Karin

Technically, this IR went good out - only a slight increasing of contrasts is needed to reach full "punch". On the downside, at last in my personal opinion, this photo would have much more drama and dinamics if shooted with some more wide - angled lens. My two cents, keep shooting.

Thanks Tomislav for your critique! I have to experiment further to get a feeling for the right contrast etc., wide angle lens is also a great idea, I do have the sigma 10-20mm - Regards, Karin

Yes :) and unfortunately I bought a 58mm IR filter, I should habe bought a 77mm filter, then I just would have to buy an attachment ring for my Canon lens ... now I have to buy a second filter...

it is a good photo. The location has some interesting features with the staircase and the winding path on the right. I am guessing that the long exposure has allowed the wind movement in the leaves so they are not very crisp. I would prefer crisp, but if you don't, that is fine. If you continue your experimentation with IR, reflections of landscape in water can be quite striking in IR.

Thanks David for your critique and the suggestion to take reflections of landscapes in water. I am going to try that. Yes, it was windy when I took the photo, my digital SLR has quite a strong hot mirror, so the exposure time had to be very long, I discovered though that my small Canon G9 is a lot better for IR photography, as soon as I get a IR filter for that camera I will continue to experiment. Cheers, Karin
