You show texture (colour, too) of the sandstone quite good, Colin. All important details are visible, only yellow smudge by left edge can be cut. But other thing is important: plentiness of the forms of layers - history of the oceans or lakes (maybe rivers rather - dynamical sedimentation) shown perfectly:)! Rgds, Artur

What I like first of is the *line*........the vertical line reminds me almost as if this were the binding of a book. Nicely composed! A book of pink stone.. all the more interesting. The colour is great, (albeit that greenish thing going on at left side!) ~ cheers~!

Hi Nic thanks for the good comment and glad you liked it. I didn't see the book but I can now - nice one. The green is actually an algae/moss growing on the column - regards Colin

Hi Colin the green/yellow light is really disurbing. The opposition of the flat and the curved surface is good. You can simply reduce the second one keeping the contrast also between the plain and rough surface. Thanks for sharing

Hi Colin. I love the simplicity of this piece. That being said, I think it would be a more effective abstract if it were even more simple! I'd suggest eliminating the left panel completely and reducing the photo to the more abstract elements of the right panel... perhaps cropping a bit of the bottom. Nice one none-the-less. Steve

Good sharp treatment of what feels more like an architectural detail than an abstract, Colin. Only real flaw is the green tone of the light coming in from the left edge. Regards..Hank

Hi Hank thanks for the good advice and comment. I wasn't sure about leaving the green in or even taking out the column and just leave the dune pattern on the block - cheers Colin
