I realise that this won't appeal to everybody, false colour infrared does seem to be a love it or hate it sort of thing.

These are some trees on the bank of the River Stour in Essex, where I was trying out my new IR filter. I had left the camera on auto white balance (bad I know for IR) and once I'd removed the red colour cast this was the result - personally I rather like it, but would be interested in others opinions.

I've shot it in both, many times ;-) One of my favourite scenes & it's where I always go to try out a new bit of kit.

An appealing image - I'd rather remove of reduce the red tinge on the edges of the trees if possible, but overall I like the color scheme and the attractive reflection. a bit more detail of the trees would be better, maybe there was some motion due to a breeze? John

Thanks John, I too would like to remove that red fringe, but I can't think of a way to do it that a) looks good and b) doesn't involve a huge amount of work - any suggestions?

I'm not sure about the softness of the trees, it was pretty calm but over 30 secs there could well have been some movement. I kind of like it though, the softness seems to fit the mood for some reason.

Ben, This is absolutely amazing. It looks like a surreal painting from an exotic land. I love how you compose your photo and put the horizon line almost in the middle. I love the colors so much. Beautiful shot + piece of art. Well done.

Thanks Roham, I guess you fall into the 'love IR' camp ;-)
