This is a great image, I really like the overall composition, but only have a slight nit that I am surprised no one else has commented on. There are 2 marks on the baby that look a little out of place and I would remove them in Photoshop. The first is on the head in the upper left it appears as a little black spec (looks like bug in it's hair) the other is on the middle wing of the baby in the darker area and appears as a small white spec(looks like lens dust.) Cleaning those 2 items out of the image allow you to view the image without the distractions.
One more comment, the signature is distracting as well, I would leave it out or make it smaller/blend it better. If you are adding the signature to protect the image, it does little to accomplish that goal as it is easy to remove.

Wow Miles, I love this shot of the swan baby on its mothers back! This is so well done. The soft lighting & delicate tones really work with this soft & sweet subject. I like the water drops showing from there swim together. Nice that the babies face is forward looking. A well balanced composition. A fine work! Thank You for letting us see. Best of regards, Tave :)

to me the only thing keeping this from being three thumbs is the shallow dof. i would like to see the swan's beek in full focus as well as the eyes. or at least acceptable focus. lighting is spectacular. looks like studio lighting, that's how nice it is! great work. tommy

Hi Miles,
this is a great animal picture. Sharpness, colours and light are very well made and though I think that you used PS quite a lot the photo still looks very harmonious.
Concerning the picture's composition you could arrange the "lines" of the wings in a way, that there is as much dark space in the upper left corner as there is white in the lower right one. I imagine this could still improve the overall impression.
By the way, diversified and nice portfolio.
BR,
Markus

Excellent shot, full of newborn softness. Wonderful light (just luck or well prepared ?).The DOF is good enough in my opinion - I disagree with the former critiques. Congratulations. Andrzej

This one is just adorable Miles! I love the little duckling protected by the big wings surrounding it. The details in feathers are nice. It looks so soft I want to touch it.. The colors, the composition is good as well. If I should nitpick just a little, I would say the tip of the beak is not in focus. But still, a lovely photo! Thank you for sharing :) Regards, Carina

Hi Mikes, I like this shot. Looks pleasant though not contrasting. Quite sharp. Left eye with a spark adds flavor to this pic but the right eye looks dull. Looks like you have done some PS work around its head, doesn't look good for me, sort of artificial. One composition you could have tried is to make the area of the black region and OOF white region at the bottom left equal, making it more balanced. Good work, Regards, Jayavel.

Nice Miles! good capture, don't know how much PP you did but although you have excellent sharpness and light, there are some spots that need to go, at least 3 that I can see. You have done very well indeed with the whites, it is a very good shot, regards Dave
