I like this shot much better than the other crop duster shot.
Your exposure is much better here. I like seeing the plane low to the ground ready to start spraying. The background does not bother me as much. This is just real world flying and area for a crop duster.
Another cool shot of this would be if you could get him actually spraying the field. I don't know what he was spraying, but some of the chemicals have a bright color which would show up well.

Hey Bryan. Did post a shot after this one with him spraying. Came out pretty good. Will be posting more as the planting season gathers momentum. Thanks for looking and for your kind suggestions. Joe

Hi Joe looks like a great position you caught the plane in.Good DOF,plane looks sharp.BG to me not bad, planes fly in the air! Some puff clouds though would look good.

Hi Paul. Thanks for the encouraging words. Yes, I agree about the clouds, but timing is everything. I will have more opportunities here in the country to take more images. They just started spraying the fields here for the upcoming planting season. Still too soon for any dramatic clouds. Thanks for commenting and critiquing. Cheers. Joe

Nice capture of the crop duster with good prop blur, sharpness and placement in the frame. The background is a bit bland but it does show the real world that these aircraft serve and what they are there for. Regards, Jim

Thank you Jim. Yep, the real world background that these fellow work in is not exciting -- say as flying at 30,000 feet. They slug it out in the trenches, so to speak. The season is young and the colors, textures, surroundings will all change as winter begins to lose it's grip and spring takes hold. Looking forward to taking more images of these fellows working and submitting them. Thanks for looking and for commenting. Joe

Exposure and focus are on, but that background does absolutely nothing for the subject of the plane. The background is plain, busy, and sadly to much in focus. Using a gray or polarizing filter for a shallower depth of field would be good, and a polarizer would probably have made the sky more interesting. Compositionally I think cropping off the bottom 10% would give a more balanced look.

Good points made, Kirby. Thank you. I shot the image using "shutter priority" in order to get the prop blur. That may account for the background being somewhat in focus. I actually tried the crop on the bottom you mention, but it did not look good. The season is just starting and I will be out taking more, experimenting more and posting more. Thanks for looking. Joe
