This appears to be one of those pictures where many people don't knows what went into taking it. To the casual eye all they see is a beautiful picture perfectly taken. They don't see the waking up before the crack of dawn, the trudging out in the freezing cold and the 20 frames shot to capture that perfect moment. It was worth it, the picture speaks for itself.

Great shot and good use of HDR. What distracts me is the sharp edge in the sun (but that could be also my monitor). Perhaps you could blur that area and also fill the white central areas with some color from around?Regards!, ETG

Excellent use of HDR, quickly becoming one of my favorite post processing tools, the composition is wonderful, the only thing that takes away from the image IMO is the Sun being blown out, but at the same time it has certain appeal (cant make my mind up!!!) Overall i really like this image well done. Cheers Harry

Beautiful shot Peter. It makes me feel like I've been out all day and
it sure would be nice to go indoors for a nice warm drink, but
then again...I'm from Florida. Real nice shot.

Wonderful contrast between the sunlight and the snow. You could call this one "Fire & Ice!" Very nicely captured - congrats!

A dramatic photo! The bright sunlight is making its presence known to the winters chill and dark sky. Thank you for sharing! - Mike

this would look much better without that sun there. i like the glow, i would crop the left off removing the sun completly. the sky has an hdr glowing look to it.

It actually is one of my first attempts at HDR.
Can't really see how you feel that the sun don't belong in this picture, but then again, it's good that we all don't see every photo the same way I guess.

because it's very bright and creates a distraction.

I have to disagree with MIke and the rest...First off this HDR shot looks more real then some of the cartoons I see others putting out here on Photosig.. Another is many of you say the sun is distracting but what if you walked up on a hill and this subject matter was right in front of you...I think it is a great shot...
