Blue food coloring in gelatin makes for some amazing "liquid" that defies gravity. :)

The glasses really are stacked that way.

Lighting is three clamp lamps ($5 at a hardware store) sitting on the table behind the glasses, pointing at the yellow wall so no light falls directly into the glasses. The glasses are a few feet away from the wall.

Because blue gelatin plus yellow bounced light = green, I corrected the color in Photoshop. Another issue is that yellow light has very little blue in it, so the gelatin appears very dark. I also corrected that in Photoshop.

Lesson learned: think about color mixing when choosing your food coloring!

That is just great!!! Talk about good sense of taste and a photographic eye. Love the colors, love the framing love the idea!!! I didn't expect to be that exited by a still life photography. Well done. I think you would have a great future in advertising photography. I wish you the best! Just one question, is this tower of glasses for real or photoshop made?

The glasses are really stacked that way. It's not really that hard to stack them. The first two are quite simple, actually - one wine glass will sit inside another like that. The top one was a little delicate, and I had to walk carefully back to the camera. Glad you like it!

You are very talented photographer with good enough energy to do what you think. I should give you credit for that plus some for your beautiful shot here. at first I was thinking maybe you shoot only one glass and using PS to crate this shot but after I read your explanation than I find out how nice and how delicate you did the process of this shooting. Thanks

Perfect photo... Background which is from dark to light, colour harmony of yellow and blue, position of the middle glass and its back are very impressive and successful.

Something that is a little different for this morning's selection. I like the color treatment and lighting here. I am a little torn on the very bottom of the image with the base of the glass right on the edge. But I don't have an easy solution to that issue either.

It appears you haven't written a critique since January. I hope you will return to writing critiques.

amazing work. I tried this with the same idea of using jello, mine was in red and its a great fun to make sort of illusion so that it's not ! If you want to have just a look : http://www.photosig.com/go/photos/view?id=2087039. Yours with its blue and yellow harmony is a treat to my eyes and do not see anything which would let me not giving a 3tu.

Jeff, very creative! I don't know how people think of stuff like this. Very good colors, nice clear shot with great DOF. Thanks for sharing. I'm looking for wine glasses around the house right now. -Henry

Cool effects here...how did you do it or are my eyes playing late night tricks on me with the b/c colors seeming to change in tone when scrolling up/down??
Great colors, unusually unique and clever format/comp. Maybe a little grain/noise. Nice job!!
