I can certainly appreciate the difficulty in getting such a shot. Hummingbirds are not only fast, they are smaller in real-life than shots we see.

I like your shots for several reasons:

1) Framing is perfect 2) Background is completely undistracting 3) Lighting is excellent. Was there a lot of sunlight? What time of day was this shot taken?

Thanks Chris. This was about 9am at a wtelands center. The sun was fairly bright, but this spot was surrounded by trees. Regards, David.

Very nice capture David. It's nice to see both the bird and flower in focus. Very nice detail and a great pose.

A nice hummger shot David, good composition and captured in the feeding moment. Wing motion is just nice to add, it would be nicer if the tail could be a little sharper. Cheers......Edwin

Guess birding hasn't been that bad! I think if I had to pick a perfect pose for a hummer this would be it - gently feeding on the flower and wings back - perfect light and sharpness - flower even in the same plane - background just a tiny bit noisy - the white throat feathers I'm waiting to check on my home monitor - if the details there I'm adding a thumb later tonight - in any case a beautiful capture - John

Thanks John. I went to NY for a few days to attend an Arthur Morris seminar and hoped to catch the shorebird migration at Jamaica Bay. The seminar was great, but it rained for the remainder of the trip and I got exactly zero pics. Back in GA, we have had over 95 temps for 3 straight weeks. Even the birds are tired :). - David.

Wow, that's good ! How amazing balance to stay freezed on the same point yet moving your wings a hundred times a second. Nice compositioning with the flower too. Good DOF. What would we expect more ?

Nice one David. Good detail. Good color, but perhaps a bit bright around the neck! Nice to see you giving these a try! Look forward to seeing more!

Thanks Walter. It has been rather hot here...over 100 for more than a week...so I have been a bit spare with my photo time :). Best regards, David.

Hello David. I like the dark, natural looking background as it helps bring forward the hummers plumage detail. Some white areas do come across a bit hot on my monitor but I'm not sure. Thanks for sharing. Regards
