Thumb-up    from stevea/Steve (4,388) Send mail to this user on June 27, 2007 3:57:35 AM CDT (2)

I think the colour is very nice, but there are problems with the focus (tail and wings are soft) and with composition (it would be much better if the wings were not partly obscuring the head). Also the spider web is distracting and clearly nothing to do with the dragonfly. The part I like best is the golden detail on the wings, but the rest is just ok.

Thank you Steve for your suggestions and comments, I don't agree with the problem in focus, just the DOF that is not sufficient for such a close distance from the lens to the object. You are right about the composition, I had tried to clone out the spider web but I messed it up finally, would there be any other solution that you may suggest? Cheers......Edwin

Maybe fade the spiders web so that it doesn't look so dominant? i can see how it would be hard to clone out the whole length, but do you need to?

Beautifull shot Edwin - I like the traditional pose, one thing I would have done differently was to remove the tiny thread from the spider - to me it does not add to the shot and disturbs too much. Take care. ;-)

Very nice shot, Edwin. I like the colours and good DOF. Though the composition might be little bit centered for me. ;-) Cheers, R.

Nothing beats your previous butterfly but this another good macro photo, with an interesting subject. Even it is not fully sharp, it offer us the opportunity to "meet" this nice yellow guy! Greetings!

Hello Edwin, A nice and interesting shot this is. Very pleasant with a richness of details. Good lighting and sharpness. A little more space at the left would be nice. I don't like the composition, but the subject is masterful exposed. Thank you for sharing. Loek

Very nice image Edwin - unlike Brat though, I'm not as happy with the web strand, but that's just a personal preference - I'd also prefer this cropped down tighter, and with more room on the left - the detail in the curve of the wing is really beautiful! John

Thank you very much John and I appreciate your thoughts, I had tried to clone the web out but it was difficult and I messed it up at the end, so I leave it like this. Cheers.......Edwin

Really like this Edwin...The dark uniform b/g really pops the dragonfly and the stand of web really lifts this...Looks like it's fishing, great. Best, Brat.

INCREDIBLE crisp detail!! The black background works perfect here!! Great color and pattern on him. I would maybe have placed him a bit more off center but other than that....love this!!!!!

Thank you very much Stacey for your thoughts, I had tried to place the dragonfly on a higher position but the long stem didn't appear pleasantly. Best Regards......Edwin

Dressed in gold**** Edwin, is that beauty caught in a Spider web?

Thank you Luis for your kind words. It was not caught, it just stood on the tip of a dry short tree branch with web line hanging. Cheers.......Edwin
