My youngest daughter graduated from high school on 5/30/07. It was a tumultuous moment as all the graduates filed into the gymnasium. While most of the grads are scanning around looking for family members, my daughter was lost in thought about the moment in her life.

I tried to make her stand out in her cap and gown in a sea of people in caps and gowns.

Nice concept and for the most part the technique was quite appropriate for what you were trying to accomplish, but your daughter is just too far away for the lens used as a result I got this Where's Waldo kind of experience trying to find who was the focal point of the photograph. Photographs like this should telegraph your intent in seconds, I had to work too hard to find the point of impact and by that time the impact was lost.

Now, remove your daughter (meaning no comments or another caption) and the overal photograph works much better as a general graduation photograph as it demonstrates the frenic atmosphere of a graduation quite well.
