Very nice image - I really like the sky and wood textures - not completely sure about the house crop, but really not sure about the heavily tilting horizon on the left - still a pleasing and moody shot - good work! John

Hi John. The tilting horizon is the natural slope of the land with foothils in the background. As for the house crop I figured I'd get some comments on that. Thanks for looking. Anthony

nice black and white picture. I love the foregound wooden house. The sky is so dramatic. In my opinion the grass in the left foreground is a little bit overexposed. Compliments, Daniele.

I kind of like it even if the cabin is not in full view. I guess it's the perspective of the cabins opposite to the diagonal dark clouds.

Which, in my personal preference, the image should be a bit more contrasty to enforce the visual convergence of lines.

Example

Cheers

Thanks for taking the time to tweak this image on your own. I like what you've done although I would want to preserve some of the highlights. I'll certainly play with curves some more.

It's a good shot Anthony, and one that gives a real feel for the weathered wood of the buildings. Bodie skies seem to have a magic about them in shots I see from here, and this one certainly has it. While I like the photo, I'm not quite so sure about the choices you've made here. I'm mainly thinking of the really tight crop on the right where the window is cut through and the balance with the expanse of open ground on the left of the shot.

I seem to want to swing the camera round to the right a bit and maybe take a step back/use a wider angle lens to get more of the building in, but I realise that is very much a personal choice. It tells me there is more to Bodie than just the old trucks, so good enough at that!

Fair comment Peter on the composition. I tried to present three elements here: the old house, the grasslands, and the sky to give some expanse to the shot rather than just presenting the old weathered building. If I ever get up there again I'll keep your suggestions in mind and take a different angle on the building. Thanks for looking and critiquing.

It look like it could be one of mine so why wouldn't I like it? It's stunning with a beautiful sky to boot. Good tech skills and good timing.
