Very powerful shot. It's both beautiful and telling at the same time. I'm in no way an environmentalist, but this photo really shows just what we're doing to beautiful pieces of land out there. I guess when we're at home in our crowded cities, we don't think about this kind of stuff. Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Ed, thanks for the critic. On this trip I rode my bike all through Russia within 4 month. Having done that, I have to say one could turn most likely into becoming an environmentalist very easy... But yes, being at this lake it was beautiful and depressing at the same time. Thanks again. Don

Amazing scene... there is so much going on. What lake in maple ridge is this? I am in Port Moody, BC, which is near by.

Thanks Matt. I will get back to you with a bit more information. I rode my bike quite a distance... :-) So I am not able to just give you directons. But I remember it must be near blue mountain. As I said. I will check my diary to give you more details how to get there. I would love to know how that place looks like today... Regards Don

Beautiful image. The color is fantastic. At first glance the colors really grab me. The stillness of the water reflecting the sky pull the eye deeper into the image, it is not immediately noticeable because of the stumps. This seems to give the image real depth. Well done.

I must add my praise for an excellent photo. I am especially taken by the reflection of the beautiful sky in the calm waters.

Oh my, what a capture ! This one of those once in a lifetime shots. You have managed to present a near perfect scene. The lighting is espically good. The cloud pattern is awesome. The reflections in the water are a mirror image. The colors and contrast are perfect. Nicely done indeed.

Thank you Deno! I appreciate your support! It was always a nightmare to wait for the answer from home, till the films had arrived... I had to ship them around the globe from time to time. Knowing that these kinds of shots are out of hands for couple of weeks wasn't a good feeling. Keep it up! Don

1500 slides scanned professionally? What did that cost?
Too bad about the majority of the shots, but this one is definitely a keeper. Maybe a little more light or a tighter crop on the left would have improved things a tad, but beyond that it is just a flat out great photo. The sky, the snow peaked hills and the stark trunks jutting through the mirrored water are all wonderful elements.

Thanks Matt, I paid about 500,- for scanning. May be thats why... ;-)
I think I will pick the most stunning ones and give them one more try. You can see, that the scanner ran out of focus on the far right even in on this one. So I think it's worth to do some one more time. Thanks again. Don

Good call Matt, I think a tighter crop on the left; say just to the left of the large stump would have been great. It balances the frame quite well and gets rid of the least attractive portion of the photo.

Awesome shot, Don. I like how the reflection and the reality just pull you into the photo. I need to pull into more back roads.
Regards,
Frank

Hi Frank, thank you. Yes, back roads are definetitly worth to try most of the time. On a bike it's even more fun sometimes. But with a truck you stay dry... ;-)
Keep it up! Don
