My cat, Parsley, hates the camera ( can you tell? ), but she's pretty photogenic when I manage to catch her "on film." I have a page on my site devoted mostly to her: http://www.ForrestCroce.com/Galleries/AnimalPortraits.html, since I'm trying to get into pet portraits.

Hi Forrest,
Some of the previous critiquers seem to ignore what DOF is.
I thing the very short DOF is precisely what makes the quality of your shot here: and even more precisely, the frozen, very sharp whiskers are the real center, aestehtic and dynamic, of you image.
Good B&W too.
Michel

You have got a very nice cat and a very nice photo. I believe you should not have blurred the background and part of your cat that much. My guess is that you did it with software and can redo that and have a awesome photograph.

Thanks for the complements! Sadly, ever since I dropped my 135 it's been a tad iffy on the focus. This was in pretty low light and, while I put the AF point over her eye, it wound up focusing on the tip of her nose instead.

Even worse, she hates the camera, and won't let me get another chance if she can help it. I swear she's learned the minimum focus distance for all of my lenses, and will either look away from the camera, or come just a little too close... Every now and then I manage to get a good one, though, and this is almost one of those times. Here's another ( and much better! ) photo of her: http://www.ForrestCroce.com/Photos/ParsleyTongue.html
