David, this is so beautiful and stunning. Great details and composition! You did a great job with the lighting and the background really looks good against the bird. Excellent shot! =o)

This lovely shot impresses because of the simple composition - less is more - and the great technical performance of your lens and camera in nice light .

one of the best bird portrait shots ive seen for a while, the colour and detail are spot on and the background blured out perfectly, the only thing i can see with it is that the feathers just above the eye seem to blend in with the background but that could well be my screen, all in all an outstanding capture. clint

Nice capture David! I like the details. The zoom lens give a close snap of the bird. The exposure is also very nice one can see how nice the colours are. The birds looks as if posing for you.

Beautiful crisp headshot. The full size image must be something to see. I love the feather detail. Only minor nit-pick I have is the diagonal OoF triangle top left, a closer crop would sort this out though. Now let's see a full body picture to show the racquet tail!! Good Shot, Alf

Hi Alf. Thank you very much. I do have another shot of the whole bird, which I will likely post later. Regards, David.

Sorry David, out of green bullet. One of your best bird portrait here, very effective composition to bring the bird out from the background with very fine details. Wonderful feather colors but it seems to me a blue tonal shift does occur in here, just a minor issue. Well done David, thanks for sharing............Edwin

Hi Edwin, please don't worry re the thumbs :). Your comments are much appreciated. I tried to balance the color a little, but you may well be right. best regards, David.

This is a beautiful shot. Does your lense have a stablizer? And did you use auto-focus or manual focus. No matter how hard I've tried I can't get the individual details that you are capturing.

Thank you Martel. The lens is stabilized...this was using automatic focus. The 100-400mm lens is reasonably expensive and fairly heavy to carry around, but it does quite well once you get used to it. Regards, David.
