the photographer in the image is my sweet husband, Kemal. well...it's his reflection in the water anyway. :) it rained all day, and so we spent several hours shooting rain, water drops, and reflections in the water. it was lots of fun! :) got a bit cold and wet, but some coffee and some fish & chips warmed our bellies afterward!

Anyway, whatcha think of this one? i pushed the exposure 'cause i kinda liked it bright like this, but i'm wondering if i need to go back and do another curves adjustments so the highlights aren't so bright? i'd sure appreciate your feedback on this!! thanks ya'all!!! :)

Very Cinematic. Something you may see at the beginning of a scene revealing a serial killer's lair. A very distinct mood. I would like to see this in B&W actually. This is one of your best.

hi M.G. and thanks so much for the feedback on this!! i'm glad you like it and find it interesting! you said you'd like to see it in b/w...i guess you mean without the sepia tint? yeah...i think it would look good like that too! thank you! :)

Supercool! Great colours in contrast with main subject. Even the tiniest details are clearly visible. Besides, great idea. I took some time to look at the rest of your photos... it's really nice to see that you somehow following your "style". Truly, very nice collection of photos. Keep up!

I've found shooting the rain drop ripples in water effectively difficult to do Sheila but this has come up well. I think you might have looked a bit more to the right removing your husband's reflection fromn the centre & make the most of that gorgeous golden left side. I think you might crop out that dark reflection nearest the right edge. Regards, Ian.

hi Ian, thanks so much for your feedback on this!! i took several pictures of Kemal while he was standing there shooting the rain drops, but i don't recall that i moved to the left and shot him from that perspective. pity. :( i give your crop suggestion a try, Ian. thanks for suggesting it! take care & thanks again, sheila

Very nicely done.. I'll confess, I wasn't sure about the colour or tone of this picture, but after some changes I must admit this is the best one. Is it original? Besides, I'm allways peevish about the subject being in the centre of the picture. Here, for some reason, it also seems to be the best way. I find nothing to carp at :)

hi Jaanis, i see you've added onto your comment since i replied. yes, i agree with you...that whole rule of thirds thing says it's a big no-no to put the subject in the center. Sometimes, however, i do break that rule when i feel like it works. i dunno if it works, but i figured if it doesn't, ya'all will tell me! :) thanks again, Jaanis!

Each level of contrast reveals a different atmosphere and the one you chose is fine. You can complete the visual story and comment with some crop of the left and/or the right so that your sweet wet Kemal is main actor in the format. Suggestions - from the left between the first and second dark polls and from the right to where the first dark poll starts on top. Nice and wet...

I like it the way it is although a slight curve change might help. Just a tad richer, darker maybe. I do like the two different lighting conditions in the image though, from light to dark as if he is standing under an overpass or bridge, entering the dark. I love how the rings in the water add drama to the pooling water. Usually we see lots of reflections in still water. The balance is great with his figure placed where it is. The pilings are positioned just right in the composition so that we find him, but he doesn't stand out too much screaming 'here I am!'. Thanks for sharing!

hi Ronnie, thanks so much for taking the time to look at this and give me some feedback & suggestions!! i kept debating back & forth whether to make this one darker or lighter...just couldn't decide. Maybe i just need to try another curves adjustment that's somewhere between the dark one i did and this lighter version?

thanks so much for the detailed crit and telling me your impressions! that helps me a lot! Cheers! :)

Hello Sheila, I just wanted to say I find that this pics is very beautiful. I think it has a certain mystery to it. The combination of rain, and a mysterious subject in the reflection make a very good pic!!! Justin
