I like the BW version better than your color submission. Since the cloth pattern is already quite busy it didn't need the added distraction of color. For my own personal taste, I'd try to boost the contrast of mother's face just a bit with an S curve on top of the channel mixer conversion. Youv'e don a great job on the exposure -- no blown highlights on the main subjects. Nice work.

Thank you for our kind critique and suggestion. Will certainly try the S curve and see how it looks. Appreciate it.

Wonderful shot, Suchit. Very well composed, and the expressions are very good and interesting. The three different textile patterns are complimentary. I find the background behind the child's head a little bit busy, especially the pot on the left side of the child's head and the little triangular item on top. But I'm nitpicking here, it's an awesome shot, one of the best you have in the series. Regards, Arie

You're right Arie about the background behind the head, with street shots, sometimes you don't have much choice. Ideally moving to the right would have avoided some of those objects. Really glad that you like this shot so much.

That's a really nice picture of a lovely couple of models. Not a lot to add really. I think my preference is for a plain frame even though this one is nicely done with an appropriate font. I think it works well in B&W even though the original must have been very colourful. Letting the background burn out a little rather than burning it in gives it a light, airy feel which seems well suited for the subjects.

You're right Keith the original is very colourful and for some tastes, that itself takes away attention so tried in B&W and am pleased with the results. Thanks for your suggestion.

Please don't be jealous - inspired would be the word -- just as I am by so many great photographers here on PhotoSIG who post their work and who are sooooo much better than me. But thank you for your generous critique.

Suchit...the clarity of this pic amazes me, its like reach out and touch it. Its tough to say whether the changes u brought about cause this feeling, adjusts...or if its an enduring feeling as it has very strong presence yet the mood is somehow vacant. Just to see i dropped the con -20 and seems softer but the same strong presence is unaffected. Pic at that level does demonstrate black levels are too low though, specially boys shirt.

BG choice, dof used with it and portrait framing are all excellent. Not entirely flawless but with some fine tuning adjusts if i saw this flipping through national geographic i wouldn't find it out of place there....cheers, wog.

I'd use different filtrstion in the convertion, otherwise a very nice douple portrait indeed. My taste is for more contrast and depth, I'm guessing less red would do the job. ;o)-max-

Thanks Max. I used PS CS Channel Mixer for this. If I remember correctly red was +40, green was +65 and blue was +20 with constant set to -2. I don't remember exactly but the it was there about. After that I increased the contrast a bit but not as high as you normally do on your images. :)

Uhm - settings don't make much sence without lighting, whitebalance etc. but your numbers sound a bit strange to me. Without knowing the original a wild guess would be keep the red at 40 bring the green down to maby 20 and the blue at 40.. A lot of red and green equals a yellow filter, and with yellow skin and perhaps a yellow lighting it will become flatter.. More blue might bring some contrast and texture. No guarantees though, it's a finger tip thing, what ever you like. Cheers Suchit. !;o)-max-

You're right, just the RGB values doesn't have much meaning but it was in reply to you're "less red would do the job" statement. Thanks for your help and taking the time with the critique.

Really nice capture, Suchit! Very well composed and cropped. That little fellow has incredible eyes! Imho, the background is a bit too busy. I think a little less dof would have been good. Alternatively, moving a bit to the right to get a calmer background.
All the best / Eric

Thanks Eric, all valid suggestions but the shooting conditions didn't permit that.
