Taken with an extension tube and fill flash to give detail to the match body. Let me know what you think.

Hi John, this seems a tame amount of heat for you to be playing with :). Good detail on the match and good timing to catch the first part of ignition. I might consider rotating 90 degrees CW...it may not be correct, but fire looks more natural going up. best regards, David.

If I'm going for hot photos I'm going to have to find myself a willing model.... matches are pretty cheap though and my wife doesn't mind ;). Your suggestion for changing the orientation is a good one - I'll try it out - John

Good timing and good expsoure. I should try this one of these days. :) Sounds like fun.
I like the diagonal placement and the colour retention in the image despite the use of flash. Did you have to take many shots before you got this right?

Thanks for the crit - yes it was fun! It only took about 2-3 shots to get the exposure figured out, but I took probably 30-40 in order to get the timing - something interesting happening during the exposure - John

Not bad. I see your point about the timing. Also, from the use of the 70-200, I take it that you were either on remote or timed exposure so your timing to get some interesting flame would be even more critical.

Great idea, perfectly executed, only one point of view. I would chache the position of the match exactly rotated, Why dont you try?

Thanks much for the crit - I'm not sure i understand what you suggest - are you talking about having multiple exposures? John
