This was taken during an outing with the local photographic society and my first attempt at night time photography. The picture was taken at around 7 PM so there was no daylight left when we aimed our cameras at various objects of interest.

The camera was mounted on a tripod and aimed at the posh hotel (the building with the illuminated tower) across the canal and I am surprised the image turned out this sharp. It was set on full manual and it wasn't easy to focus on an object that far away in darkness (practice, practice, practice!). I will not submit the version I took at first though, where I accidentally set the camera to a 30 second exposure...let's just say that it was a bit...bright (understatement of the year).

Hi Tomas.

I like your photo. The only thing I find wrong with it is the trees on the left and the railing on the far bottom, other from those 2 easy-to-crop problems, it's a great, sharp night photo considering the circumstances. I was in Malmo last year when I went over to Europe. I was coming back down from Stockholm to Denmark on a train and I had to stop over, I walked through the city and I quite liked the area. I hope to go back one day =D.

Evan.

Yeah, I realized those two problem areas after I took the pictures...it was a learning experience more than anything, so next time I will pay attention to the WHOLE frame...since a lot more than you expect will show up there when you have long exposures. :-)

It is a beautiful city and well-worth a re-visit. I have a few exposures from the city spread through my various portfolios here, and I am sure you'd recognize some of the sites there. No, you don't have to write a critique on any of them, most have already gotten enough comments already. :-)
