Nice capture, Good focus and DOF..
The only problem I see is the reflection.. Why did you keep it?

Boy, I would love to be able to capture a shot like this. I never seem to have any luck. Great work. I'm sure you had to be very patient.

Well done Chuck, While I read some of the others critiques I'm confused. I have no loss of detail or blown areas of this photo. I see clearly every toe of the feet and feathers in the white areas and the beak doesn't merge with the BG. Maybe a recalibration of monitors is in order. This shot is just excellent. Thanks for sharing Chris

Hi Chuck. One of my favorite birds to see and this one is well captured. The pose is classic, there is just enough reflection to tease and make me want more. A touch of overexposure in the white and the way the feet and lower beak merge with the BG hold this back from perfect. Good job. regards, David.

Very nice - great pose but with some overexposed feathers and loss of shadow detail around the feet - pretty much impossible exposure but you've handled it well - background is good although the lighting makes it look like it's tilted a little - good one! John

A very good catch, Chuck... the composition is good for the situation. This really shows how graceful these birds are. The detail is pretty good, but the only areas where it is not is due to the exposure: first I have to say that this is as tricky as it gets, because of the whiteness of the feathers is really hard to get them exposed perfectly without leaving the rest of the frame 'in the dark'. Well done! Carlos Ch.

Great shot, its sharp has great color and great detail in the dark areas near the feet. The action has been completly stop and your subject appears to be suspended in air. Great job!

Beautiful colors and I love the way the bird's wings almost touch the water. The light looks perfect. If there is one thing I could change about it, I think I would like to see a little more space at the bottom of photo to see more of reflection, But still, The focus and composition are perfect. Superb job! Cheers Michel

This is without a doubt, one of the nicest action/nature shots I've seen in a long time! Everything is virtually perfect with the single exception being the feet being pretty dark. This is 2 & 3/4 thumbs up right now, and if the feet were dodged a bit, easily a 3+ tu.
Revision: Since you changed the image, now I see what you had to work around. I have to admit that I really liked the first version better, of a darkened background, but newest version shows your mastery of moving shots like that... I'm really torn on which is the better presentation.

very nice capture of this graceful egret. exposure is very good considering the contrast with the background. too bad you weren't able to get more of his underside in the reflection. good shot.
thanx

beautiful shot. Great sharpness. was just wondering if u could have captured the whole reflection of the bird. I know its too much to expect that too with a flying bird :)

This is a very nice picture. A fast moving yet very sharp object with limited DOF. I would love not to see the reflection rather than seeing only a portion of it on the bottom and the land on the top. 2.5 TUs.
