My final Power Couple shot. This one is most likely going to make the cover. Let me know what you think.

When shooting specifically for a magazine cover, it is imperative you create a composition that is designed for a cover. This first includes examining past cover design for that specific magazine and then shooting in that design sytle. This includes saving room for the magazines title, contents and comments, publication date/issue and volume number, and a whole array of other cover considerations. Cover images are very specific. I don't know what magazine this is intended for, for I cannot critique the image on what I stated above. Generally, black/dark backgrounds and dramatic unidirectional lighting also doesn't work. As for this image itself, the man's skin tone blends too much with the background with loss of muscle definition. Overall I find the crop too tight. His head is too near the top border, and her elbow is cropped, as is her wrist. Her bathing suit/posing outfit top, in white is too dramatic a contrast for the rest of the image, and should be changed to blend more with the remainder of the image. I don't understand the stringed ball, but the manner in which the light is reflected off the one section in front of the chest of the man is overly done. I suggest you get with the art director or editor of the mag, and go over the needs for that speicific upcoming issue if you have not all ready done so. The cover image sells the magazine, and is the MOST important image for that issue. For me, in my ignorance of the mag, this image doesn't work at all for a cover image. TED
