Yesterday's storm. Little more than an hour before this we had white-out conditions! The sunset light on the red brick against the incredibly uniformly gray sky to the east complements the fresh snow so well. It was a magic moment or two.

1/30 sec.; f/4.9; 37.7mm (~140mm equiv), handheld (braced on window frame). PS CS ACR, NR with Neat Image, high-pass sharpening, curves for contrast/saturation tweak.

I've looked at this shot more than a few times. The Smokestack is way too jarring to my esthetic sensibilities. You hid that marvelous little treasure of a building behind the stack. A few steps to the left maybe and we’d see more of the building and less of the stack.
I like it enough since it’s not quite thatmucked up so…

Thanks for the crit. Unfortunately, this is shot hanging out a window so a few steps to the left is not an option. (There is another window but the background is much less palatable.) Since the stack IS going to be in an image from this pov, I decided to make it a vital part of the composition which meant, to my mind, including some of the lovely sunset-red bricks as well as the terminator to further explain its shape (I suppose it might be an option to crop close to the terminator). What you can't see is the building that has just barely been cropped out ot the photo on the left. Cheers.
