Thumb-down Thumb-down    from sitstill/David (2,889) Send mail to this user on November 22, 2005 3:06:26 PM CST (6) Early critique

Jay, please don't take offense to my rating. I use it for the true definition..."seriously and irredeemably flawed". Aside from the previous mentions of bad/rushed PS work, there are some other issues as well. The image you've placed of the girl laying down on the couch is one...she's looking into the knee of the other image and her hand is coming accross the leg, on top of it being cut off. We also see slight camera shake in this image as well. The Outer Banks flag is bad too...it's also got the camera shake as well as intersecting with the girls head. You could try a more shallow dof to lower the amount of distraction it causes in the shot...maybe? There are just too many flaws in this composition of images to give the viewer a clear understanding about what you're trying to say.

Sorry Jay, the composition is jumbled and the cut-outs definitely need some work. All photos in the montage are out of focus as well. Take your time with the cutting and masking in PS for better results. This looks rushed.

Jay...You've stuck a picture of an out-of-focus girl onto the image and have not bothered to cut out properly. The fuzzy coins are a distraction. You really need to start of with a better image and then carefully remove the edges with an eraser tool after you have pasted it into place. Start off with an opacity of 100 to get rid of the easy bits and reduce this as you get into the body so that it doesn't look obvious. It's kinda funny the way she is looking at the leg though (her own leg!) Sort of Narcissism if that's spelt right...

We all make mistakes while learning. You should be learning a lot from the input of your fellow photographers. Best regards. H.D.
