I liked this photo a lot. Very nice colors and a balanced composition. With so many details the photo is still very soothing.

You did a good job on the exposue for the snow & ice. The sky is a beautiful shade of blue and the tree trunks are a dramatic black. With those things going for it, it is probably one of the nicer memory shots taken in your neighborhood.
Unfortunately, for most of us, this doesn't trigger any memories to fill in the gaps. To me the image is completely without composition. I can not identify the subject. If the snow covered leaves were what drew your attention to the scene, then go take a close up of them -- eliminating all of the clutter.
It looks like you may have had a classic set up a little to your left. Is that a path winding thru the wood? Let it be your subject. The brown path will draw the eye and be clearly defined as a visual subject. The snow covered woods will add interest, pattern, and depth. Even if it isn't a path, it can still act as a visual pathway to lead your eye thru the photo.

Thanks for the critique... Didn't think that would actually work. :)
Unfortunately the 'trail' is simply an asphalt road. I did take a couple detail shots but the actual look of the snow being everywhere didn't really come through. Unfortunately, the best looking shot actually has a pile of trash in it. It was a beautiful day, but was hard for the inexperienced photographer inside me to capture and as I said, I haven't posted any shots that I've taken since joining PhotoSIG. I'm saving those for later.

"Simply an asphalt road" is not always so dismissively simple when wrapped in an ermine robe.
One of my other thoughts (before noticing the road) was to have someone make a path thru the woods so the footprints would lead your eye thru. And just so you know -- I lived in Jersey for a while and had too many opportunities to take snow photos. I never once thought of making my own path to add interest. :-(
I haven't posted any shots that I've taken since joining PhotoSIG.
LOL!! Ahh, now I know what you mean. When you said it earlier (haven't posted any shots, but have numerous shots posted).... I simply thought you were one of those somewhat unstable mental folks that periodically drop in on us .... an unusually polite and coherent one. I almost asked about it before, but decided I really didn't want to know.
I look forward to seeing some future shots. Remind me when you post.

The leaves are interesting, but that's pretty much the only interesting thing in the photo. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, I just have nothing to really look at. Jon
