Exposed for 1/125 @ f14, ISO 100. Used the native B&W mode on the 20D. Added a slight soft focus to the background only.

Thanks for the feedback. Jeff

I give this a 2, but wanted to give you a 1, as a possible wake up call. I think you're stuck on photographing subjects straight on.

(This is a great portrait, and a good black and white, but your soft focus looks out of place. That's my 2.)

Here's my 1: Her hands...her hands, how about a low angle shot featuring her hands in prayer with her face in background? How about off to the side, top angle, dramatic lighting; how about the other side, maybe eye level.......I hope you get my point.

You can pull in so many different elements: her hair, face, hands, texture of the clothing, to pull of a more dramatic rendering of "quiet time".

This is a damn good photo, B&W, composition and lighting (I'd love this quality for my kids), but just too ordinary.

Steven,

Thanks for the thoughtful critique. I agree with your comments. Particularly about shooting straight on. I have committed myself to breaking out of this mold.

Again, I really appreciate the feedback. This is what Photosig is all about.

Best regards, Jeff

She seems oddly centered. Lighting is good, good detail too. I love the tones, and that expression/pose is priceless. I might have cropped some from her right side to more center her...not sure tho.

EDIT: Jeff, how do you like the 20D?

A nice peacfull photo with great lighting and exposure. The only drawback is that there is too much dead space on the right and left sides of the photo. A little cropping will do wonders here. Thanks for sharing...Dean
