This was taken from my dormatory room window after a pretty bad snowstorm at the end of February 2005. It's also my first photo that I've ever posted. All comments and critiques are very much welcome. Thanks!

Nice photo. It's tough to capture an interesting scene like this. The exposure is good. Yeah, the photo is a bit cluttered, but I like the strong trunk at the 1/3 point. I agree that a bit of contrast might help. So might some work with a curve. There's a lot you can do with a photo like this just to play around, like creating negatives or finding edges, etc. Might make a nice element in a compostion. Where's your dorm?

Thanks for the critique :) I go to school at McMaster University, in Ontario. We got lucky with a woodland side window. A lot of people got stuck with a window facing the road. I get to wake up every morning to this view

Lucky you. I'm sure you've heard it all from the older geezers like me, but enjoy these years!

Paul, I think you've paid attention to the scene an placed a strong line in a good spot compositionally. I think this photo needs a touch more contrast to emphasize the snow and wood more.

Shots of snow on trees do work but I think it's a case of trying to find tree scenes with a little less clutter. When the trees are more easily discernable, viewers tend to be more accepting because their eyes can explore into and around the trees more. This scene is maybe just a little too cluttered.

Not a bad picture, I would try infared or something for more dramatic effect. Nothing more than what millions of people see in snowy areas every day.
