Hi Marc. This is a terrific composition and I especially like the way you captured those magnificent paving stones leading up to the flowered urns and to the buildings and trees. Either your dof was a little too shallow or your scan was not as sharp as it should have been as the focus seem a little too soft. Had this been a shot on a good digital, where you transfered the data directly to disk, I believe this would have been a real winner. It is a beautiful arrangement with lots of fine old world charm. Best Regards, Michael.

Thank you Michael for your kind critic! I have encoutered the dof problem with other pictures I scanned too, so I think it has to do with this art of digitalising. Please tell my wife that a nice D-SLR does great pictures, she's holding the wallet! Marc

The sense of distance is very good here. I agree with the tree on the left, but then again the tree behind the second house looks quite weird: does it grow from the house? I don't find the light any problem -- the shadows add life. Oh, and the Velvia sky is just magnificient.

Hi Marc. That's a very pleasant composition taken from a lower angle. I geuss the time of the day was difficult. I find the big tree on the left a bit distracting since it takes our attention. Thanks for sharing your work. Dvori

I do see the point with the shade. I'll improve next time! Thanks.
