On the Isle of Skye on the road to Elgol. Taken a couple of years ago but only able to scan it since I got the Epson 2450. All comments welcome.

There's really something special about a good black and white landscape that just can't be experienced in color. No doubt the larger negative helps... as did the slow, fine grained film. This shot is filled with beautiful contrast, excellent shadow detail, and wonderful tones. It just seems to roll on endlessly, though... as if this were a crop of a bigger, more beautiful panoramic shot on 6x9. I know it's not, of course, but you get the comparison. ;-)
So the only thing that's missing here is a single point of interest, back to which all the other elements of the photo would lead the viewer.

Thanks Randem

I think you've really hit the nail on the head here about it looking like a crop, as this was taken with a standard lens rather than a wideangle. I think the main reason I have been disappointed with landscapes for the past year especially is that I am trying to get too much into them and losing impact, whereas this one doesn't suffer from that. Agree about the point of interest.

Thanks again, Peter

Very nice photo. Very good detail in the entire shot and very good balance. I find it very pleasing. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot, good exposure, but I would crop a bit of the foreground out as ti distracts from the nice contrasty nountains. (they have enough stregnth to stand on their own, and this simplifys the frame. Nice shot though... Roman

A fine shot of one of my favourite locations. Excellent sharpness with plenty of detail in the shadows. Slight pity about the rather blown out sky (no graduated ND that day, or is it from the scanning?)

Thanks Seymour, funnily enough I have never used an ND grad on a b&w film shot, but I'm not entirely sure why! The next negative has a darker sky and I assume I would have used an orange filter for that one, but always preferred this version as having an obviously different tone in the sky. Just out of interest, this is what the scene looked like in colour.

Nice in colour, but I much prefer this one.
