Creamers Field was once an active Dairy Farm, however it is now a refuge for birds resting on their seasonal flight paths. Straw and feed is scattered freely so that hungry birds have a place to stop in the spring to nest and eat, and stop in the fall on their way south. The most common birds found are Canada Geese and Sandhill Cranes.

Composition is fantastic but as Bartlomiej says without the story it would be more of a snapshot (or something to that effect, wish I could see his reply as I'm typing this...I hate to take notes). I like the dairy setting over the field of birds. Does seem be a very soft focus on the birds...maybe more DOF if the lens would do it. But still a great shot. Is this in Alaska? Gary

good shot. very well executed photo with an idea and very nice story. photo alone does not have the appeal, but the story about birds adds the "cream" (did I say "cream" ? ;-) ).

on the side note: the title "For The Birds" was used in first (but extremely funny) demo animation of Pixar. don't know if you used it intentionally or not, but it made me laugh like a kid ;-)
