Part of my Lord of the Ring inspired photos. Take a look at my First Photo in the trilogy. These photos were taken by setting our wedding bands on fire.

this is a pretty cool idea. what did you use to make a flame? i think next time include all of the reflection on the table to allow more depth in the photo. thanks for posting.

Excellent photo!!! The flame on the left side that is hanging over the edge of the ring should be removed as to show the flame coming from out of the center of the ring. But over all, this is a supurb photo that has so much meaning and passion. Anyone who views this picture can feel the strength and power it invokes. Just supurb!!!

Let me guess, Everclear? That's awesome...Done it a thousand times but never got such a crisp clear flame. Wonderfully sharp too. I wish the rings had a TAD more light on them, but other than that, they are great.

I think you've totally nailed the concept, both times. The blue gradient is mesmerizing and the exposure looks right on the money. I think I like the additional color of the other one a little better, but this one is really cool too....errrrh hot I mean.

Yea, I agree I really like my first photo that I posted in this series. I was surprised more people didn't critique that one.

If I had seen it I would have been all over it. It's too bad when quality work doesn't get the attention it deserves. Rest assured it was a great shot.

awsome picture. i have one question. how did you light the flame? i don't see a match or anything, unless you took it out in PS

I used a eye dropper and lit the alcohol with a long match. My wife helped me with it all. We were quick and I took about 300 photos in a period of 10 mins or so.

Well Dan, you have outdone yourself. I still see the same as I did the last one, in that it is a tribute to marriage in that it can withstand the heat and fire of this world, but now with the intense blue hue (blue has the meaning of TRUST, RESERVES, HARMONY, AFFECTION, FRIENDSHIP, FIDELITY, LOVE) it all the more solidifies my view of the sanctity of marriage being strong enough to withstand the "falmes". Good Job!

Nice work. The blue flame really stands up. As for lighting etc you certainly got it just right I must say.

Thanks Angelo, I as well liked the lighting, even if the ring is a little dark, I thought it gave the photo a evil sort of glow.

I believe the black background improves the blue flame. But I can see some detail in the rings, which if there was a little more light on them this detail would be more, pronounced.

This photo was originally even darker near the ring. I was able to restore some of the detail and highlights in photoshop. Thanks Tom!

The concept you are trying here is just wonderfull. Magnificent, innovative work. Okay, you had inspiration, but your way of capturing the effect turned out great.
I think you should have "moveiframed" this one aswell. I loved that on your first pic.
Another thing is that you cropped the top of the reflection from the flame.
But is does not ruin the great impression of nice technic and idea.

Thanks Allan, unfortunately with the way the camera was setup it did not capture the entire reflection. Out of 300 photos only one had this blue glow. I will probably go back and movie frame them all, it just didn't work as well when the entire frame was black. It also would require me to crop the reflection and frame even tighter. Thanks!

Hats off to you for engineering a great image! There are some technical shortcomings here (a touch too dark, we lose some needed detail in the rings and the background is a bit dominating), but the end effect is excellent! Nice work!

It was a little dark, but out of 300 shots it was the only one that had a unique blue glow. Take a look at the rest of the series, they are all very diffrent. Thanks!
