The eyes look sharp which is all important in any portrait. Sharpness seems to fall off on the neck. I agree with several others about the distracting sky. That could be toned down in PS. As mentioned by "unknown", this should be cropped to a vertical as there's just too much unused, uninteresting space on both sides. If the sky was darkened I wouldn't mind the low level on the dog at all. A great expression in Jacks eyes.
