Tom - I love macro work, and you've created a fine example with this simple yet powerful study. As has been mentioned, this image brings back fond memories of a childhood toy, one which I would play with by the hour! The image does seem a bit over-sharpened to me - and (on my monitor at least) there is some disturbing pixellation at the top edges of several of the upper coils. One thing I'd enjoy seeing is literally inverting the image, so that the apparent source of motion originates in extreme lower left; intuitively it seems to be a better directional flow would result.
