Interesting photo. What came to my mind may have nothing to do with what you intended especially since you have titled this shadows but I will share what I saw here and why. The most prominent part of the composition is of course the silhouette of the young boy. Why do I think he is a little boy? Well I will get to that in a second. He seems motionless and simply frozen in place. And that is where my mind stopped as far as the silhouette goes. Then my eyes came to the the flowing silk blue cloth on the right. What immediately came to mind was "is this part of a sari?" So then I started to think if this was a woman standing on the other side of some cloth barrier between the two. Maybe his mother? Maybe a sister or grandmother? And it is my perceived difference in scale between the silhouette of the boy and what would be the corresponding height of the woman with the sari. The seam in the white material seemed to reinforce that feeling of separation between the two. Now it could be that I completely misinterpreted this but that is what my mind went to :)

I also thought it was interesting that you left the part on the bottom in this. I'm still trying to get a sense of why though. Was it to show the shoe? Perhaps but it does nothing to help the story here that I can understand. But I guess it could be argued that it adds another layer of interest. Cheers, Mauro.
