This first competition is totally open. Your base image is a single photo, and you can do whatever you like with it. The winner is the person who, in the opinion of the jury, has created the best image. (Subsequent competitions may be based around more specific briefs and/or involve composites.)

When you have created your image, submit it to photoSIG in the usual way and then post a link to it in this thread. Please state in the Photographer's Comments what software you used and a broad outline of what you did.

To comply with the copyright declaration requirements, I am placing the base image in the public domain and allowing copyright in processed versions. Note, however, that there is no model release for commercial use: it is released for non-commercial use only.

You can use any software you like to produce your image, BUT the work must be your own: you are NOT allowed to use anyone else's Actions or pre-programmed filters. This means *at all*, even if the Action/filter is only a small part of the overall effect. You must do it all by your own original work, using only the built-in editing facilities of your chosen software and any Actions/filters you created yourself from scratch.

You can find both a NEF and a full-res JPEG of the base image here. If you want to open the NEF in Photoshop, you will need the latest version of ACR from the Adobe site.

The closing date for the competition is 10am GMT on Sunday 21st May. No expense has been spared: the winner gets the choice of a photoSIG mug, t-shirt or thong.
