Why haven't I got any critiques on my photo?
This can be for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the thumbnail didn't look very interesting. Perhaps people clicked on your profile to see that you write very few critiques yourself (the site is based on the idea of each member critiquing three photos for every photo they submit, so many people won't critique photographers who don't do this).
But, unfortunately, the most likely reason is that the photo is technically fine but not very interesting. Most people will not critique a photo just to say 'Sorry, this is boring', so no critiques is usually an implicit 1TD.
How can I get more critiques?
The best way to get critiques is to be engaged in the photoSIG community.
Some ways to involve yourself in the community are:
- Critique a wide
and diverse group of work and photographers.
- Reply to critiques that you
receive to foster a dialog about your work and develop relationships with
other photographers and critics.
- Be courteous and gracious when
responding to your critics, even when you disagree with their comments.
- Respond to critiques on others photographs, asking questions and offering
suggestions.
- Take the time to rate the critiques you receive.
- Make
an effort to rate critiques on work other than your own.
- Take part in the discussions in the forums.
All these activities will make you more visible, and increase the likelihood that your work will be critiqued.
You can also solicit more critiques, and help bring new users to photoSIG, by posting links to your photoSIG photos on other photography web sites.
