My last photo submitted received a reasonable number of critiques, so no complaint there. The views started off typical for a shot that showed some skin, and again nothing unusual. After the crits stopped, I figured the interest would likewise taper off. The views kept climbing and soon topped the list as my most viewed image. Once it hit above 7,000 I started getting creeped out, and took the rare step of withdrawing the image. That didn't stop the hits, and the views are above 8100 now. I just wish I knew who is linking to the image and why. At six points, it didn't seem to set the world on fire and it wasn't a glamour or erotica image so that rules out the one-handed typing crew. It beats the hell out of me ;-/

somethings are illogical, at least you got some critiques, my most non R rated shot for some reason got 1800 hits, and only a single critique of a rating of 1. Now, why than non R rated photo, became my most viewed photo with only a lousy point on the critique is a mystery to me. Maybe you are right, and some site links the shot to explain how some shots gets lots of look almost independent on the critiques, or in my photo case, maybe the thumb looks really interesting, but the actual photo does not.

An issue had come up two or three years ago when I posted a shot of my art fair booth in response to a thread about framing and presentation of prints. I hadn't planned to put it up for critique, and it seemed like the thing to do in a quick response to the thread. I wound up getting some crits on it anyway, but after a while I found it was my highest viewed image. Say what????. Nothing frankly to recommend it. I did a tineye search and found one twit had appropriated the image to help illustrate an article on art fair tents. The image was a tiny thumbnail, smaller than the thumbnails around here. so no commercial use was made of it, but no link back to it was given. Still a mystery. Then I did a Google search for art fair tents and the shot on here came up third on the list. That explained that one :-) Searching the title I used for the recent photo didn't help any at all, and if it is in there it's probably on page 245. If the image was copied, it's already been done but tineye doesn't find it anywhere. I figured the least I could do was withdraw and stop the silly looky-loos.

yes, that is most likely the logical explanation that someone is puttin in a link on some other web site, and if no one is not making money on it, seems to be within the rules of the web.

You're under-selling yourself Robert - obviously the word has spread about your artistic talents. :-))

Hah! We'll see what happens this weekend at my first art fair of the season. If that one sells a few 16x24 prints, then it's better than I thought.

As of 4/13/12 10:10, the views are now up to 8691. I wish I knew where the link was coming from ;-)

Search the original image and then check out the links.

Nothing on Tineye or Google. I was probably wrong about the source, as there aren't that many X images being posted on Photosig any longer. Clicking on photos and selecting X ratings, there aren't that many on here and checking out views on a few of them, there are several with more views than mine. It's the one-handed typist web surfers that are driving up the views. It almost makes me reconsider posting figurative work on here. The views are now 9,731, up from 7,000 or so when I withdrew it. Needless to say, the high number of views didn't translate into higher number of crits or comments.

Click rates seem extraordinary high since March 30th. As far as myshots are concerned I wish I could believe this ist due to my irresistible photographic genius, but I'm afraid the reason is somewhere else ... no clue though.
