I'm starting to get excited because I have less than a week to go before my 3-month exposure is done! I'm so curious what it's gonna look like!!!

It's a 3 month exposure using a pinhole camera that my husband made for me. Inside the camera is a piece of photographic paper. It's called solargraphy.
The movement of the sun gets recorded on the paper. At the end of the exposure time, you scan the photo in a very dark room and then save the negative image. Then, using your photo editing software, you convert it to a positive image, and you can crop, adjust levels, etc.
To learn more about solargraphy, click here.
You can find more information here.
To see some very long exposures using this method, Click here

I am planning to make one from a tall beer can, hopefully before the 21st of this month. The film cannister type seems too small to me. Hope to get my local volcano if I can find a good place to safely tie it for 3 months.
Hope your photo turns out. What does your camera look like?

Hi Wayne, Have fun making your pinhole camera! I think the film canister types are too small too. You can see the camera my husband made me if you click here.

Good for you - its one of those things I keep telling myself I'll do, but so far haven't done a thing about it. No excuses, its a lot more accessible than getting a helium balloon and sending a compact camera to the edge of space... one of the other things on the list.
My wife will be happy if I simply paint the house windows, but that's in about position 83 on my list of things to do before I die.

LOL! Sheila :) I have reminders posted all over my house....seems my memory is affected by age!
it would not be good for sun photos here, it is gloomy and rainy and foggy, to tell the thruth, it is kind of scary to get this warm weather this time of year, some parts of the world got snow when they are not supposed to, we got too much rain all winter, not even half the "normal" expected snow....and now the weather is so warm , even at nightime, that the maple sirrup production is not good, the maple will not produce enough sap....
Nature is kind of taking its revenge, I guess....
hugs
Jacline

I totally understand about the reminders, and yes...memory sure does make us forget things! My problem is remembering to look at the notes I write myself. LOL! :)
Winter here is not typically good for sun photos either; however, I this winter has been very unusual for us too. We've had a good deal of sun, barely any snow, no ice, and lots of warm weather. We've been having extremely warm weather too. I guess the weather is crazy all over the world. *hugs* sheila
