I think this is a good example of street photography. It also goes to show you overexposed areas without detail can be an important part of a composition. Nor does everything need to be sharp. I think this photograph really creates an atmosphere. Love to know what you see here.

I agree a very cool photo. The different tangents of light and shadow and reflection have our eyes moving around the scene. The light reflecting onto the lower right window pane looks like light eminating from the building across the street. There is a positive negative circular spot on the upper left pillar that looks like a water drop or even a small mirror on the wall. Can't quite figure that part out.

This is a great photo which immediately transports me to that place - looking at the image is like being an observer of the scene there . The geometrical lines add interest here and the interaction of lights and shadows add a mystic element here. B&W conversion is an exellent idea as it enhances the mood - it makes me feel relaxed as it reminds me of a stressfree Sunday afternoon where I enjoy going to a museum or a holiday visiting some unknown place - one thing I would try - a perspective correction as the tilting lines on the left are a bit of a distraction

Oh.... I was looking at that for a long while earlier today.... The thumbnail looks great, but somehow I was disappointed at the full-size version, so I kept thinking of ways to re-crop it (at least to remove the distracting reflection of the building on the left), but then I couldn't think where exactly to do so. This is one of the frustrating ones where I *know* I ought to be able to suggest something, but couldn't think what. So I gave up. Sorry, Cinzia. Yes, atmospheric and now I see what you mean about the over-exposed areas.

ÃÂ Thank you very much for your kind words! I give you some information about this photo: it was taken in Milan, on the top floor of the Museum of the '900. I was visiting the museum and I had not the camera with me, but the scene and the light was so beautiful I thought it could be a good bw shot and so I used the only thing I had, my iphone 3GS and hipstamatic app, there's no post processing, no conversion in black and white, the shot is exactly as came out from the phone. probably I could pay more attention to the composition but the two people went away immediately and I had no time to take another shot from another side

I want to like this picture but can't connect with it. Usually, an image that shows someone looking out from a darkened room onto a street filled with people evokes a feeling of loneliness and isolation. But this is a couple, and i would think they'd be fine with just each other. So I try to imagine a story for them, and can't come up with one. She's carrying something, but it doesn't look like shopping bags. They're wearing coats, so are about to go out, but from what? The various technical issues don't bother me at all. I ike the shadows, the dark corners, the feeling that this is an opportunistic glimpse into someone's life.

There's a lot to like here. The fact that it isn't all sharp attracts me: the only sharp (but washed out) part is the building they are looking at. This gives the scene an ephemeral somewhat dream like quality which allows the eye to wander & the mind to speculate.
The light lines mostly across the image & the shadows running towards the viewer add further interest.
For me this is a good street photo.
Thanks for pointing it out Sheena.

Agree with David: (I want to like this but can't connect with it.) This seems like a quick shot of two very distant people looking out a window (from a museum/gallery/tourists?). I do appreciate the effort in taking the photo and b/w post work, but I want street photography to tell me a story or convey something, anything. Eric
