Most likely you have critiqued a photo which as been removed. When that happens, the critique points go as well.

dont be too concerned chris, some people have lost hundreds due to those same deletions, i was lucky i only lost 4,, i am guessing he may have been part of the monthly photo comp or the like for people to have lost hundreds, i dont think i have critiqued any one photographer that much outside one of those comps

New rule needed. Delete the post, delete the user.....critiquers keep the points. Its not about the points but about loosing ratio for posting. I try to keep 1:3. Seems wrong to loose it because some dick deletes their mess. Just say'n.

if you made more critiques one photographer would not effect your ratio

Well, at least here is a member who does care about his 3:1 ratio, so let's be a little more pollite and encouraging ...

Chris - I can appreciate the sentiment. However, there are two factors at play against your suggestion. First, several years back, after a proposed system change, it became clear that photographers felt strongly they needed to maintain control over their work, so it is necessary that they have the right to delete photographs. (That doesn't mean we have to like it when people do it, but it is necessary to respect photographers' rights here.) Second, although even Willis once suggested that a system change enabling users to keep their critique points would be a good idea, there simply aren't any system changes forthcoming. Willis is the only one who can make the system changes, and his attention is elsewhere.
Near as I can tell, the best thing to do is just to keep plugging along, writing critiques, and try not to let small changes in points bother you, even while recognizing that some people's behavior is not in keeping with the spirit of the site.

Your very correct Marshall but some people around here need to lighten up. I wasn't really bothered but it just doesn't seem right for something that I wrote to be deleted by someone else. Now I don't even know what it was but that's not the point. My critiques are not the best or very lengthy but everyone is thought out and not posted or fluffed to keep my ratio up. I actually take it pretty seriously and try to adhere to the spirit of the site. Many folks here don't but fortunately many do. I agree, you should be able to control your own work. So delete the photo and the name of the photographer for all I care, but leave the critique. I'm not here to start an argument so if anyone feels they need to tell me to shut up and critique more, keep it to yourself.

It can be sorta futile in some ways, because Willis isn't making changes to the site, but it ain't my call when someone should shut up.
I will offer one counter argument, though: if the picture is not there, what value does the critique still offer?

I tried something on a second thought, go read a few good critiques without looking at the image. They are very helpful. I'm done with this thread, see you ya'll back at the field.

I think I'm missing something here. Can you turn in critique points for prizes?

ooops, I just read: How do I loose 7 "pounds" in a day? - lol
Don't get discouraged by that .... we all do lose them, just lost 60+ points
two days ago.
You do write good critiques, I just read and rated some - keep up the good
work!
Cheers, Karin
