Not sharp. Not cropped. Not post-processed. Can the end result be exceptional in some cases? A match up of the medium with the subject?
I admit to being partial to this medium - especially the square format. One of the features on Flickr allows a user to create galleries of other photographer's work. For those interested, here is a link to some galleries I have created of those compositions which have grabbed my attention.

I was lucky in getting some good Spectra cameras (1 Spectra Pro) on eBay and some OneSteps at garage sales. Film is still available - right now costs me $2.00US per click.

Sheena and at 350 Euro it isn't exactly 'cheap'. What I find fascinating is that the 'polaroid' format etc. is offered in UK magazines. There must be a niche market for this...

For those who want to mix the nostalgia of Polaroids with the current digital world, you can always check out Poladroid Dome with a sense of humour; you even can shake your photo to speed up development and you are limited to 10 shots at a time; the same as with the old packs of film (or so they say).

That would be fighting words for the purists out there who believe digital attempts to emulate Polaroids, Holgas, Lomo are missing the point - the challenge of using the original medium to produce good work.

For many purists, any attempt at emulation is something to fight about, whether it be digital simulations, or even new analog variations. Anyone who gets uptight over Poladroid, which was obviously done with a sense of humor in mind, is the one missing the point, not the people using the program. As an alternative, on my iPhone, I have an app to recreate the Lomo look. The look is created while you are shooting, not really in PP, and I have found that to be a fun alternative, especially for doing stuff like posting to flickr, Facebook, Twitter or the like. Maybe it is not the same thing, but I find it fun. Isn't fun what most of these toy cameras were about originally?

It is peculiar that I have tried to digitally create Holga compositions but feel differently towards Polaroids. I have some Polaroid shots with slight problems easily fixed with software but I do not want to fix.

In Japan, they had a mini-format around the turn of the century. I received it once as a gift and took some 'thumbnail' size photos with it. But the quality was a bit of hit and mis
