Okay, my English is obviously not perfect. I read the reviews/opinions about Sigma 135-400 and people say that "Lens creep of this lens is bad". I looked at the dictionary for creep, but I couldn't find a meaning that is sensible. Which part of the lens is Lens Creep, can anybody tell me? Or show me on a picture?

WHen zoomed, it doesn't stay on what you set it at, the lens will 'creep' out/in on you if it's tilted up or down so you would have to hold the lens so that it doesn't move on you.

Lens creep--isn't that one of those guys with a camera stalking folks from the bushes and such?
Generally it points out a significant design/manufacturing flaw. Internally the lens action should be well damped and smooth with some resistance to manual change of zoom or focus. When focus or zoom is set and the camera is pointed up or down from horizontal, those settings should hold for some period of time. All lenses creep to some degree-gravity is relentless. When you can see the external rings move or worse hear the clunck of the internals hitting their stops inside the lens barrel then you have problems. Creep in this sense referes to an unwanted movement.

Naw, you got the important part: the damn thing moves-more than desired! The focus or zoom changes significantly from where it was set. A minor annoyance in a slow paced situation, a missed shot or shots in anything faster like sports or airshows or kids running and playing. I'm just enjoying the benefits of self-emplyment today, so I elaborated; sorry if I pushed-in...

I thought a lens creep was someone who goes to nude beaches with a camera hidden in their bag!

you don't even need to hide behind the bushes. There is enough live satalite feeds that you can follow or find anyone you want now and it will only get worse

japan has a cell phone that see's through clothes. it's based off that sony cam corder that did the same thing. only now it's in a phone. quite a few sunglass models (geeky, but sheeky) with a camera (xray of course), inside.

yeah, that fit's too. though that's more like a creeping lens - but that's usually after he get's home.

So you have probably guessed by now, but the definition which closely matches on the dictionary link you sent is: "c : to enter or advance gradually so as to be almost unnoticed"
So you don't notice the lens move because it is so slow, but your pictures come out wrong!

lens creep... creepy old dudes who pick up a camera and peruse model mayhem or meetup groups claiming to be a photographer so they can capture girls in compromising positions for their own personal collection!~ YUCK!

Jenna, this was a 4 year old thread that was dead and buried. It's not cool to wake the dead so they can walk among us again. The COD scenario is one that needs to remain dead.
