The main goal of this article is to help you to calibrate your monitor in a easy and fast way in order to get the best out of details and colors of displaying photos. It's a basic visual process and a first step in monitor calibration so, if you want to set it more accurately I suggest to use specific software tools and related hardware.

First of all, press F11 button of your keyboard to switch the browser to “Full screen mode” and hide navigation tool bar which can be annoying.

- FIRST STEP -
To obtain a good basic calibration you should adjust your display contrast and brightness until you see perfectly all gray tones, including black (100%) and white areas (0%).

- SECOND STEP -
The external squares of the first line should be bright while little ones inside should be darker. Both of them should be well visible.
On the second line, black and white squares should remain perfectly black and perfectly white while grey tones should be still visible. Avoid color dominant.

Finally, rembember these tips:
- set the vga card to 32 bit colors;
- calibrate after 20-30 minute you've turned on your monitor;
- avoid too much light in the room.

Thank you for reading,
Giovanni

PS: blank space between "first step" and "second step" is intentionally left to let you to concentrate only on black and white calibration first and color settings later.

On the second line, black and white squares should remain the same

The same as what?

Black square must be really black and white square must be really white, not grey or whatever. You're right. Maybe it isn't clear to understand so I'll correct the article. Cheers, Giovanni
