There's some vignetting I'm not fond of, but otherwise this is a rock solid image! You've managed to diminish the people to a point I didn't know they were there till I really looked. The emphasis on 2/3's sky was a great choice I think. It's like it draws attention to the fact that the firmament above us is the same that covered the Ancients...a sort of connection...however ephemeral to another place and time. Great travel image.

Photo of the Week - May 3 to 9 This item is new
from ofofhy/Evan (9,149) on May 14, 2008 5:48:45 AM CDT

Please join me in congratulating igorsv/Igor, whose photo I saw the light wins this week's Photo of the Week award. This photo was described by members of the jury as, "dreamy, mystical, minimalist..." and a, "ghostly image [that] has a wonderful composition."

Not only does the Photo of the Week recognize an outstanding photo, it also recognizes photographers who have regularly submitted critiques. To be considered for Photo of The Week, a photographer must have submitted 10 conforming critiques within the week of the photo's submission. Individual jury members nominated photos that were submitted between May 3 and May 9. These photos were then voted upon by the entire jury in order to select the Photo of the Week.

Thanks again to our jury members.

Featured Critique! Congratulations Kevin This item is new
from mauro1/Mauro (7,767) on May 11, 2008 3:13:09 PM CDT

This week's featured critique was submitted by sipsake/Kevin on This Photo. Why was it chosen? There are many approaches to writing a critique. Often, we can make things seem so serious and strict with our interpretations. A sense of humor can go a long way, especially when what you are trying to describe is why the photo did not work for you. In his critique Kevin made it perfectly clear where he thought the photo worked and why the models stare detracted. And he managed to do that in a light hearted way without being disrespectful. Congratulations Kevin!

Here are some other great critiques that were submitted this week. garychisolm/Gary, wds726/Will, ted27/Ted , commart/James, ofofhy/Evan, jthphotography/John, woodwarddan/Dan, nolaphoto1/Jeffrey, punwit/Darren,

Did I miss a great critique? With somewhere near 4000 critiques submitted this week I am sure I did. So if you see a great critique, I would appreciate a quick email with a link and why you think the photo would be a good example. Cheers, Mauro.
